A blog of book reviews, by 'Til

'Til I write my own novel, I'll read the work of others and write my thoughts here. . . for research.

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

As I make my way through the works of Jodi Picoult, I am picking the books out randomly without any premeditation. I chose Change of Heart without knowing any of the story. I didn't even read the inside flap when I brought it home from the library. I just slapped it open to page one and dug in because I have learned Ms. Picoult's writing style and thought I had a good idea what to expect. However, I was truly surprised to learn what the story was really about!

The story is a what if story. "What if Christ comes back during our life time?"

As you may know (or not) I am not a big fan of sci-fi. And I think this boarded on the line of science fiction. Just barely; I can see where she was going and some may call it more religious than science fiction, but it could go either way. There were several supernatural occurrence in the story that were linked to religion. Jodi did her research because it follows the Catholic religion closely and all of her details seemed accurate.

I cannot say who the main character is in this story. Not because I don't want to spoil the story for future readers, but because I have NO idea. None. It was equal between the mother who lost her family, the surviving daughter, the suspected killer, the priest who comes to save the soul of the killer, the lawyer who tries to save the life of the killer and also the witness.

Playa 2009!!!

to my women friends and my sister i am truly thankful! because of them i have experienced so much and accomplished so much that i never thought i would. they inspire me and push me in positive ways all the time. i love you all!!
and to add to my experiences, we took a girls trip to playa de carmen! or. . . . as alicia named it "our stupid awesome trip"!! i do have to mention that the week leading up to the trip was the most stressful and frustrating week ever! i think that i had so much worry and stress that things would go wrong that i literally made things go wrong. but in the end everything worked out famously. once i got to mexico i was able to relax and just focus on my friends and having fun.

lastly, i have to thank my husband who REALLY stepped up to the plate while i was gone. he took care of everything so that i had nothing to worry about.
