he looks so peaceful there. . . .on the floor. . . . in the corner.

thomas' first dance!!!

whoa! thomas' first dance. that's nuts. . . yet here we are. thomas had a great time at his 5th grade luau. he did a bunch of line dancing and won a frisbee. afterward we went over to aunt sarah's too hang out in the backyard for a bit. it was a decent evening. the kids played and tobias danced!

sex in the city stung!!!!

sooo fabi planned this whole girls night out for the opening weekend of the new sex in the city movie. it was a big deal among women and we are no different. all fans of the show, we planned a to make a night of it. my plans did not include ending up passed out of the floor of a waffle house bathroom, but you know what. . . . plans change!

i don't know what happened. i really don't. the movie was great! the kind of movie that made you reassess your own relationships. i know i did. i confirmed that i love my friends. i'm happy with the love i've found in my husband. i know for a fact that i loooooove my kids. thanks carrie!

then. . . . it was downhill. a house party, then off to club Sting, the waffle house and finally my couch. i've been physically ill ever since and it's monday night.

birthday part 3 of 3

and finally. . . .the haircut. as promised once tobias turned one we would cut his hair. it had to be done. we loved the attention the hair brought us. but it was getting in his eyes more frequently and become a food, sand, sweat, and one-day-soon-gum magnet. so we headed out sunday morning to cool cuts for kids down on the snazzy side of the tollway for tobias' very first hair cut. we did the same ritual hair cut when thomas turned one at the very same place so this was a tradition now that it's been down will all our kids. thomas sat in the car-shaped chair and screamed his head off for the occasion back in his day. tobias wouldn't even consider getting in the car-shaped chair. rodney had to hold him in some strange looking smock that make rodney look like he had a baby head growing out of his stomach. tobias held up well. . . right up until the end. there were some big tears but nothing we couldn't handle.

over all, tobias' turning one was great!! he would have turned one no matter what we had done for the occassion, but this way was sooooo much more fun. i hope my boys know how much they mean to me.

birthday part 2 of 3

part 2 of course is the part-Teee itself. a mess. a nightmare. it was too hot. my house is too small. ice cream everywhere. on top of all that, tobias was in a horrid mood. sleepy, cranking. he was a mess! which meant of course that i was a mess. i got all flustered and weird. i couldn't tell if everybody had fun or not. but. . . . about 4 hours after the party ended and we were all resting tobias had his fun. he found the WONDERFUL mood i needed 4 hours earlier. he rocked out to his fridge radio while carrying his tools and then fell asleep with his snoring pig.

1st birthday part 1 of 3

toby turned one on thursday may 22 and somehow it turned into a week long tobyfest. not on purpose but because there were a ton of things that we wanted to do so they had to be spread out. tommy was a bit distraught when he say toby on the news. (an idea i totally ripped from alicia and ruben) but he felt better when i told him that he had gotten a letter from the president one year. i had written to bill clinton asking for a letter to thomas for his birthday and he did it! i'm sure mr. clinton didn't sit down and pen it himself but it came from the white house and that's close enough for thomas and i. i didn't bother to mention the 10 other fabulous parties that i've thrown thomas over the years but now that i think about it, i might go wake him up for this one. . . hummmmm.

anyhow. part one is the awesome present that aunt sarah got tobias. his own photo session for some great 1 year pictures. i wanted to keep him as natural and as close to himself as possible, so i didn't buy him new outfits. i put on my favorite outfits of his to remember his first year.
