.....................................this year for valentines rodney and i agreed on some guidelines. the rules were a $10 gift and a card. later i had to add some fine print to the card rule. there had to be something hand-written in addition to the pre-typed text from Hallmark. (minor technicality that could have been catostrophic.) come valentines day though rodney pulled through with more than i had ever expected. first, since i also kind of suck at showing love, i was running to the card store on my lunch break on thursday. when i got into my car to go, there in the passenger's seat, was my card from rod along with a beautiful box of candy. i got all teary. then i continued to cry when i read the card, which was perfectly selected. sobbed some more when i read what rodney had writen. (also perfectly selected). i couldn't have been happier with my valentine. but then when i got home from work . . . . . the house was clean, the table was set with candles and flowers and dinner was cooking. suddenly, i realized that my valentine to him now kindov sucked. i got him a monster candied apple and the man version of the exact same card he had gotten me. at the card store with the other 50 last-minute loosers, the idea of the same card seemed funny, even a little cute. i had really liked his card. but once it was time to giiiive my gift. . . . it was too late to run out to wal-greens to re-think this.
